Singer cum actor Kim Hyun Joong is expected to join the filming for TV Drama ATHENE: Goddess of War.
Word has it that Kim Hyun Joong has recently met with the ATHENE's production team
and their discussion has advanced into the final stage.
Sports Hankook has done some checks
and heard that Kim Hyun Joong has met with the most senior member/s of the production team several times
and they have exchanged views about the character in the drama.
One of the staff in charge said, "Pertinent to his potential role in the drama,
both parties have achieved some basic understanding and agreement.
But due to the release of Kim Hyun Joong's new album
and the filming for other drama,
we're carrying out negotiation on the filming schedule and also on a few other matters."
It is not confirmed yet that Kim Hyun Joong will be joining the cast (for ATHENE),
but once confirmed, the drama will have a super strong star-studded cast.
The production team has already confirm the casting of Cha Seung Won, Jung Woo Sung, Su Ae and Lee Ji Ah,
amongst the glamorous line-up.
If there's the addition of the leader from the group SS501, Kim Hyun Joong
who has attained the status of Hallyu Star through his appearance in the KBS 2TV drama Boys Over Flowers,
then this drama can be aptly described as a Hallyu drama.
ATHENE is a TV drama whose storyline revolves around the battle against the spy activities of ATHENE,
which is a terrorist group that threatens the safety of the Korean Peninsula and also the rest of the world.
The drama is produced by Taewon Entertainment which was responsible for IRIS
(hit spy drama starring lee byung hun, kim tae hee and kim so yeon)
but the production team said ATHENE is the sister work to IRIS
but has nothing to do with IRIS' sequel, IRIS 2.
ATHENE will be broadcast via SBS at year end at the earliest,
or the first half of next year.
