There has been much talk and speculation regarding the rumor of SS501 leader Kim Hyun Joong's participation in the TV drama Athena. The senior staff from Taewon Entertainment has refuted the saying.
A telephone call in the afternoon of 11th May to the senior staff at Taewon Entertainment
has led us to the understanding that "At present, there has been no decision whatsoever about Kim Hyun Joong appearing in the drama. The party with whom we're collaborating with (for the drama) has also not met with Kim Hyun Joong in person."
The official saying is, "Due to the fact that Kim Hyun Joong's contract with DSP has yet to be resolved, the details about him appearing in the drama will only be brought up for discussion
after all these issues have been ironed out", "The staff in the company does have very deeply rooted friendship with Kim Hyun Joong on a personal leave, and indeed it has been proposed that Kim Hyun Joong be involved in the drama, but everything is still an uncertainty."
On the other hand, Kim Hyun Joong's contract with his current agency DSP will expire in June.
As such, Taewon's senior officials hold the stance that "they will only look into the matter of Kim Hyun Joong starring in the drama after the contract issue has been resolved."
If the decision is taken for him to star in Athena, this will be Kim Hyun Joong's second work as an actor after his appearance in the KBS 2TV drama Boys Over Flowers in March 2009. Athena is expected to carry out filming in the second half of the year. Further, Athena is a TV drama based on the goddess of war.
