The production press conference for upcoming the MBC drama, Playful Kiss, will take place on 26th Aug 2010 (Thu).
It’s only two weeks away from the broadcast of Playful Kiss (aka Mischievous Kiss), and fans are anxious about the seemingly lack of promotional efforts on the part of GroupEight (the producer) and MBC (the broadcasting station). After all, September looks like a heated one with Playful Kiss vying for viewership with My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox starring Lee Seung Gi and Shim Min Ah, and (ex-)DBSK’s Yoochun’s debut drama, SungKyunKwan Scandal.
Playful Kiss is a closely-watched drama for two main reasons. For one, this is an adaptation from the Japanese manga series, Itazura Na Kiss and has been made into a Japanese anime series, a Japanese drama series and also a wildly successful Taiwanese series (which even has a sequel!) With this many adaptation done previously, it’s inevitable that viewers will compare one against the other, so the pressure is ON for Playful Kiss. Many are curious as to how the Korean version will play out, and also how it will fare vis-a-vis the Taiwanese version which remains a favorite of many drama fans.
The other reason why Playful Kiss is receiving such immense attention is because of Kim Hyun Joong. This would be his second attempt at acting after Boys Over Flowers. It would be interesting to see if he will be able to portray the role of Baek Seung Jo convincingly.
Anyway, things seem to be moving a bit faster now, what with the launch of the OFFICIAL PLAYFUL KISS SITE by MBC, and also releases of more official pictures and clips.
And yes, MBC has finally announced that the production press conference will be held on 26th Aug 2010 (Thu). Incidentally, it appears that MBC will be doing a LIVE(!) broadcast of the press conference on that day! Do check out their FB Page for more details on this.
